Happy Spring! We are finally getting some nice spring weather. In anticipation of playing outside I put the two rolling nets on the courts today. For the next few weeks, we will keep the play times the same as indoors and we can decide based on the weather if we will play inside or out. I expect to let the school know that May 18th will be our final indoor session. I am checking with Ross Green, the PE teacher, to find out if he would like to use the indoor courts for PE in the coming weeks. If not, we will plan to pull up the court tape on 5/18 or sooner if we have favorable weather. Hoping we can get 4-6 people to help pull up the tape as it will go much faster with some assistance. For those who have not played indoors since school break all the gym lights have been repaired which makes for much better visibility on the courts.

The outside courts do need to be swept prior to outside play. I would like to organize a 30–45-minute pre-play work party to get the courts cleaned off and remove the huge piles of pine needles from around the edges of the courts. Brooms, snow shovels or scoops would work well. I will plan to bring a wheelbarrow and/or tarp to move the pine needles off into the woods. I will also bring my leaf blower to help as well. The pine trees between the courts and the skateboard park have been removed which will mostly eliminate the pine needle issue going forward. I am checking with the town on any plans for the space adjacent to the courts where the trees were but have not heard back at this point.

I am open to suggestions for a good time to clean-up the outside courts. Tomorrow (Tuesday 4/29) it looks like rain starting around 5. The forecast for Thursday (5/1) looks better for outside play.
